Entry Formalities:
A National Identity card or passport (expired for less than 5 years) is sufficient for french citizens.
For members of the European Community and Switzerland, a passport without visa, an official ID, or a valid french carte de sejour is required.

A valid passport is obligatary for visitors who come from countries outside of the EEC (a visa may also be necessary, depending on the country.)

Health Formalities:
No vaccine is required to enter the archipelago. Only visitors coming from tropical countries must present an international vaccination certificate for variola.

How to Get to Guadeloupe
From Paris and other large cities in France, air transport is assured by Air France, Air Liberté, A.O.M., and Corsair. Flight time is about 8 hours.
From North America, air transport is assured by Air Canada, Air France, American Airlines, and Air Guadeloupe.
Numerous inter-island flights exist through regional airlines.
The Pôle Caraibes airport is located 4.5 miles from Pointe-à-Pitre. It was the 8th french airport to be built and is one of the largest and most modern in the Caribbean.

How to Get Around in the Archipelago
The toll-free roads are many, weIl kept up, and allow access to the principal tourist sites.
Driving is on the right-hand side of the road. The traffic laws are the same as those in Europe.
Taxis are frequent and available just about everywhere in the archipelago. Taxis stands are located mainly at the airports, in front of certain hotels in the main towns, at road stations and boat landings.
Public transport is well developed with a comfortable and modern bus system connecting the different communities. Picturesque and comfortable, the buses constitute an excellent occasion to discover the soul of Guadeloupe.
The major car rental companies - both national and international - are also represented. They are generally found at the airports and the principal tourist sectors. There are also local car rental companies available.
Two-wheel transportation can also be rented : bicycles, V.T.T, scooters, and motorcycles.
Finally, for those who wish to take advantage of the archipelago's diversity in a more original way, boat rentals with or without skipper are also available.
